Dale Shetler’s KCKCC Farewell Concert Sunday, May 16

Dale Shetler, Professor of Music Twenty years of vocalists will be assembled for the “Farewell Concert” of Kansas City Kansas Community College Director of Vocal Music Dale Shetler Sunday, May 16.

The retiring founder of the KCKCC Community Chamber Choir, Shetler’s final concert will be held at 3 p.m. at London Heights Baptist Church at 734 N. 78th Street in Kansas City, Kan.

Highlighting the concert will be the singing of “Footsteps” by an Alumni Choir made up of vocalists who have performed in any groups directed by Shetler in his 20 years at KCKCC, and a combined performance of the KCKCC Chamber, Jazz, Alumni and Concert choirs and Community Chamber Choir of “Onmia Sol (Let Your Heart Be Staid).”

Also highlighted will be the Community Chamber Choir’s singing of Chandos Anthem No. 9, “O Praise the Lord with One Consent” with the Kansas City Baroque Consortium orchestra and featuring soloists Joyce Steeby, Jay Carter, David White and Edward Tucker. In addition, the Chamber Choir will perform “A City Called Heaven” featuring soloists Theresa Holliday and Edward Tucker; “Sing My Soul, His Wondrous Love,” “Nigra Sim” and “A Prayer of the Children.”

The KCKCC Chamber Choir will open the concert with “Agnus Dei (Lamb of God” and “Come, My Light” while the Concert Choir will perform “But Beautiful” with soloist Sparkle Jones and “Laugh, Lady Clown.” The KCKCC Jazz Choir will feature Gabe Harris on scat on “I Wish You Love;” soloist Amy Olbert on “Ev’r Time We Say Goodbye;” and Sparkle Jones and Gabe Harris on scat on “Wee Dot.”
