Blue Devils Pound Out 17 Hits in Winning Baseball Opener 13-6

Snowed out of two weekends of baseball, Kansas City Kansas Community College finally got its 2010 season started Thursday with an impressive 13-6 win over Emporia’s JV at Emporia.

The Blue Devils banged out 17 hits including three home runs as they scored in seven of the nine innings.

Sophomore third baseman Nate Wilder led the way with a home run and three doubles while catcher Dale Ricketts had a three-run home run and a single, Hunter Johnson a two-run homer and T.J. Lorson two RBI on a single and double. Freshman Alex King allowed one hit and struck out four in three innings for the win with freshmen Josh Carrithers, Tyler Robertson and Mark Spreckels each pitching two innings of relief.

The Blue Devils resume action Monday and Tuesday when they play two makeup doubleheaders with Frank Phillips College in Borger, Tex. The KCKCC home opener is Sunday, March 7, against North Arkansas at Community America Ballpark at the Legends.
